Damn those No-Shows

…to an eternity of smelly Pussy!

I don’t care who you are or what the excuse is, there is no excuse that will let me forgive and forget a model/performer who fails to turn up for a shoot, especially when they confirm the shoot just days before and then fail to notify me that they won’t be arriving. It’s rude, horrid and a stain that ultimately effects availability of work for other models too as producers try and verify who is genuine and who is not.

We all forget things, even things we’ve marked in our diaries and we are all probably guilty of over stretching/booking ourselves leaving us rushing around or with little time on our schedule. Then there is life’s little trials and obstacles that pop up now and again.

I wouldn’t say I wasn’t understanding at all and I personally wouldn’t hold it against a performer should they have to cancel unexpectedly… It’s all about the way they deal with it. Advising me before the calltime, even the day of the shoot, that they won’t arrive in time or at all is not just good practice it is common courtesy and manners.

Hand on heart I have never no-showed, deliberately or accidentally, I’ve cancelled of course I have but never left a model standing high and dry with a travel bill. It isn’t right and it isn’t on.

This rant stems from a no show I experienced this weekend during one my rare location shoots, I won’t name the model, I might have publicly banded her name about the internet had I gone to my usual level of expense to lay on a shoot but as I wasn’t hiring a location and would be travelling to where I shot with family anyway, I’m not too pissed. I am just sad that producers in the UK have to rely solely on the models good nature and manners to get in touch regarding any complications, there isn’t a single reputable model agency that allows the booking of models via a third party, a party in who’s interest it is to make sure their models shoot and if not they have a replacement to take their place. American producers rarely have to worry about no-show models and currently in the UK no-showing seems to be an epic craze sweeping models, to the level that I have opted to book only those I have worked with in the past and who I have built a professional relationship with as well as other established performers. I rarely accept applications from girls who may or may not turn up as it has become so damn expensive when I have to turn up just to be no-showed.

The shocking thing, to me, is the model who no-showed me is an established model, she has performed in the UK and America as well as starring in lots of Harmony films and a become a fairly big name in the UK industry.
